My heart can feel like something has wrapped itself around it blocking my emotions from being processed. It leaves me desperate for tears to fall down to the floor. Those tears never come. I sit there with pain in my heart, leaving me numb and breathless. Those days come and go but you Lord are always faithful. You carry me through the darkest of days. When life seemed to punch me the stomach leaving me gasping me for air, you are there with an oxygen mask ready and able to help anytime I need you. The oxygen gives me new life making it possible to live another day, dream another dream, and still become who you want me to be. Your love gives me strength and your hope gives me a new day.

Deuteronomy 31:6 New International Version (NIV)

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

When I was a little kid this poem was stuck in the bathroom of my grandparent’s house. It was my favourite poem back then and still remains my favourite of all time. It speaks the deep truth of God’s faithfulness and mercy that I am learning every day to trust. He is faithful forever and always.
One night I dreamed a dream.

As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.

After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.

This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
“Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You’d walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don’t understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me.”

He whispered, “My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you.”
